POCO has become independent from Xiaomi since January 17, 2020. Since then, POCO was divided into two brands – POCO global & POCO India. POCO India is different from POCO Global. POCO Global was headed by Mr Kevin Qui. He manages the aspects of the brand worldwide. On the other hand, POCO India was managed by Mr Anuj Sharma. He overlooks the brand aspects of POCO in India. In conclusion, this is the reason why some models of POCO were not released in India. For instance, POCO F2 Pro, and the X3 GT were released globally. However, they were skipped by POCO India.
POCO India also skipped POCO F3. In India, POCO F3 was launched as Mi 11X. Instead of the F3, India witnessed the release of The POCO F3 GT, a re-branded Redmi K40. While the POCO F3(Mi 11X) was powered by the all-new Snapdragon 870, the POCO F3 GT comes with Mediatek Dimensity 1200.

Both of these processors are performance-oriented and has got their own merits and demerits. Let’s see a detailed comparison and find which one is the best.
While the comparison shows almost the same specs, there’s a considerable difference between these two models. Instead of going through everything, let’s just concentrate on specs and the features between these two that matters.
- Design
- Performance
- Scope for Installing Custom ROMS
- Price Tag
- Camera
POCO F3 vs F3 GT: Design
Design-wise, both of them look stunning. POCO F3 (Mi 11X) comes with a curved and glossy back protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides. The sturdy metal frame on POCO F3 gives the phone a refined look. The design is a definite head-turner. The most significant feature of this smartphone design is its weight. With the dimensions clocked at 163.7 x 76.4 x 7.8 mm, POCO F3 weighs around 196 grams. It’s lighter than the Indian version of POCO F3. There is no mention of IP53 rating or water-repellent coating with the F3. On the other hand, POCO F3 GT comes with a design that supports IP53 water repellent coating.
POCO F3 GT weighs around 205g with dimensions ranging at 161.9 x 76.9 x 8.3 mm. Based upon these dimensions, it is quite evident that POCO F3 is lighter than the Indian version. Moreover, the POCO F3 design suits better for everyday usage. On the other hand, as POCO F3 GT is a gaming-centric phone, the design of it looks elevated and not subtle. The RGB lighting combined, flashy elements and the bulk design will not be everyone’s favourite. However, the screen to body ratio of POCO F3 GT is quite higher than POCO F3. POCO F3 GT flaunts a screen-to-body ratio of 86.3% which makes it more than what POCO F3 has (85.9%).
Verdict: Design-wise, POCO F3 is our favourite pick as it boasts a subtle and elegant design. If you are a gamer and always like to have flashy things around you, then the design of the POCO F3 GT will surely be the right choice for you.
POCO F3 vs F3 GT: Performance
This is the segment that matters the most. Both of these models throw almost the same specs on the table. They both have got processors ranging up to 3.0 GHz, the same RAM sizes, and the same UFS 3.1 storage. They both are almost equal to the naked eye. However, when they put it under the magnifying glass, then you can observe the differences between Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 and Mediatek Dimensity 1200.
According to nano review, Snapdragon 870 has scored consistently higher than Dimesnity 1200 in their stress tests. The CPU performance score of the Snapdragon 870 is over 82, while Dimensity 1200 has scored 78. According to their reports, Snapdragon has aced almost all the tests including Gaming, Battery and Multi-Core performances. The chipset has scored over 80 in gaming performance beating Dimensity which scored only 74.
Even the renowned Antutu score shows Snapdragon 870 is a better performer than Dimensity 1200. Snapdragon 870 has scored over 646313 points which iare4% higher than Dimensity 1200’s score of 618949 points. Geekbench also gave the crown to Snapdragon 870. The processor brutally beat Dimensity 1200 in both Single-core and Multi-Core scores.
Verdict: Although they both look as if they have the same specs on paper, POCO F3 is the clear performer. If you wanted a phone to outperform everything you threw at it, then POCO F3 (Mi 11X) is the only choice. The processor has beaten Dimesnity 1200 in gaming, which is the core speciality on which POCO India is trying to sell POCO F3 GT.
Scope for Custom & Ported ROMs
Having support for installing Custom & Ported ROMs can make your phone looks new and interesting. However, not all phones support the procedure. For instance, most of the MediaTek phones does not support boot loader unlocking, which is the basis for installing Custom ROMs. On the other hand, most snapdragon phones do support bootloader unlocking. They also pose a scope to install other ROMs other than OEM ROMs.
Verdict: Since Snapdragon supports bootloader unlocking. POCO F3 powered by Snapdragon, hs the scope and possibility to install Custom ROMs. On the other hand, the chances of installing the Custom ROMs on Dimensity 1200 are slim to none. Therefore, if you are a Custom ROM enthusiast, then stay away from POCO F3 GT at any cost.
Camera
This is the category where POCO F3 GT shine against POCO F3. POCO F3 GT comes with a triple camera setup. The main camera is a 64 MP sensor with f 1.7 aperture and the other two were 8MP(Ultrawide) and 2MP(Macro) each. They can do 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, 720p@960fps with full HDR support. The selfie camera on the front has a 16MP shooter that can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps.
On the other hand, POCO F3 comes with the same triple camera setup. However, in the place of 64MP, you’ll get a 48MP main sensor with f 1.8 aperture and as for the Ultrawide, you will get an 8MP shooter with f 2.2 aperture and a 5MP Macro with f 2.4 aperture. The triple camera setup on POCO F3 can shoot 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240/960fps. The selfie camera on POCO F3 has a 20MP shooter that can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps, 720p@120fps.
Speaking of the camera performance, both POCO F3 and F3 GT are not camera-centric phones. According to The SM arena, both of these models suffers miserably in low-lighting conditions. However, the dynamic range of POCO F3 GT is somewhat better when compared to POCO F3 due to the size of the sensor. Over-processing of images is observed in both of these phones. However, you can control it through the pro mode on both of these phones.
Verdict: If you are a camera fanatic, these phones are not for you. However, if you are ok with some casual photography and video making, pick POCO F3 GT for sure.
POCO F3 vs F3 GT: Pricetags
The final and the most important factor to choose a smartphone, it’s price tag Both of these models were placed in am above budget segment. POCO F3 GT is priced at 25,999 INR and POCO F3 (Mi 11X) is priced at 29,999 INR. Although both of these models have got almost the same specifications, POCO F3 GT is priced much lower when compared to POCO F3 (Mi 11X).
However, please do note that according to POCO India this price tag might get changed in the future. You heard that right. The price tag that you are seeing on POCO F3 GT right now is introductory. POCO is calling it “Mad Reverse Pricing”. According to POCO, the initial price tag of the POCO F3 GT base model(6GB + 128GB) was decided as 25,999 INR from its release till August 12. After 1the 2nd of August, the price will be increased to 26,499 INR. You can find the price change plan in the image given below. Therefore, for every week, you will see an increase in the price tag of POCO F3 GT.
Verdict: Although the price tag of POCO F3 sounds quite reasonable right now, it’s not going to be very reasonable in the long run. Above all, the POCO F3 GT lacks some raw power under its hood like POCO F3. Therefore, POCO F3 is the clear winner between these two. Even though POCO F3 got a hefty price tag than POCO F3 GT, it is quite worth it in my opinion.
