OnePlus 9RT vs 9R vs 9: 4 Things OnePlus Improved in 9RT

4 Reasons to choose OnePlus 9RT over OnePlus 9 and 9R.

OnePlus 9RT

OnePlus 9RT vs 9R vs 9: OnePlus has recently announced OnePlus 9RT, a new phone set to succeed the OnePlus 9R and possibly OnePlus 9 as well. It was already launched in China and therefore gave us a fair idea about specs and performance.

The phone is likely going to be powered by the high-end Snapdragon 888 chipset under its hood combined with a 120 Hz refresh rate 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel. Apart from these, the all-new OnePlus 9RT comes with some amazing features under its hood. With these features, the OnePlus almost fixed everything that went wrong with their previous models OnePlus 9 and 9R. Therefore, the OnePlus 9RT is touted to be the phone that’s going to replace these models on a whim. Here are the top five fixes OnePlus has made with the all-new OnePlus 9RT.

OnePlus 9RT: OnePlus Improved Design Elements

When it comes to design, the OnePlus has gone off track long ago. I still remember the first time I saw the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 6. According to my opinion, they are the most beautiful OnePlus smartphones I’ve ever seen. After that, every smartphone from OnePlus looks almost identical to its designs. It’s like, they started copying their designs and only changing the camera bumps to make it looks new. In the following years, when it comes to the design part, OnePlus has become the Apple of Android smartphones.

Even the colour schemes chosen by the company looks downright awful. Some of them were plain boring and tacky. For instance, the winter mist version of the OnePlus 9 almost looks like a polished stainless steel bar with no edges. When it comes to the design and colour schemes, the OnePlus 9R has an edge over the OnePlus 9. The Carbon Black edition 9R certainly looks amazing and eye-catching than the Astral Black colour option in OnePlus 9. Therefore, instead of going with the same colour schemes, it looks like OnePlus has chosen to take more emphasis on making the Black looks even better.

OnePlus 9RT will be available in silver, and black. The black will be called ‘Hacker Black‘ and the model is already showcased in a handful number of YouTube videos. The matte black scheme looks pretty great and it reminds me of the OnePlus One. The size of the OnePlus 9RT is also bigger than what we have seen so far on the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9R. The device measures around 6.6 inches and it looks pretty dope than the OnePlus 9 and 9R.

OnePlus 9RT: OnePlus Improved Camera Specs.

The one thing that disappointed me the most when I saw the OnePlus 9 was the lack of OIS.OnePlus 9 has to be the first smartphone at Rs 50,000 price point. However, the phone doesn’t come with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and only supported EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).

Even the budget-friendly smartphones like OnePlus Nord, and even the OnePlus 9R came with OIS out of the box. For starters, OIS not only helps with video stabilisation but also plays a huge impact in improving low-light photography. I didn’t understand why OnePlus did that. OnePlus might’ve done it on purpose to give leverage to the OnePlus 9 Pro over the OnePlus 9.

OnePlus Fixed this issue by integrating OIS in the OnePlus 9RT. The camera module of this model comes with a triple camera setup that boasts a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary lens with OIS and EIS support, a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, as well as a macro lens. At the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

OnePlus 9RT: OnePlus Improved 5G Bands

5G has become the go-to choice of many people since every brand is offering 5G phones on budget. However, many people might not know about the existence of several 5G bands. The band spectrum is essentially the frequency at which the internet speed will be available to your mobile device. The bands were sub-divided into three categories low, mid and high. The more bands the device support, the higher is the reception. On paper, if your 5G capable mobile device has lesser 5G bands, you might not enjoy 5G at its full potential.

OnePlus 9RT comes with the support of 8 5G bands. On the other hand, its predecessors, the OnePlus 9 & 9R only supports two and a single 5G band each. Therefore, making the 5G reception of the OnePlus 9RT almost triple that OnePlus 9 and 9R. OnePlus 9RT even bears more 5G coverage than OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9R combined.

OnePlus 9RT: Improved Processor & Fixed CPU Throttle

Both the OnePlus 9 & OnePlus RT comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, the highest possible chipset right at this moment if we don’t consider Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The processor bears the highest possible benchmark scores than Snapdragon 870, the processor that powered OnePlus 9R. However, many people opted for the OnePlus 9R, since the OnePlus 9 suffered from the issue of CPU throttling. The Snapdragon 888 is fabricated on Samsung’s 5 nm node. In theory, the processor should be more power-efficient than the rest of the CPUs. However, the reality is that it isn’t.

OnePlus 9 sales drastically suffered due to the issue of CPU throttling in Snapdragon 888. However, OnePlus opted for the same processor for the OnePlus 9RT since it bears the title of the most powerful processor to date. Along with the most powerful processor, OnePlus 9RT also comes with a Vapour Cooling system, UFS 3.1 and LPDDR 5 RAM.

Meanwhile, according to some initial tests done on this model, it looks like OnePlus has fixed this issue successfully. According to the Tech Youtuber Beebom, the OnePlus 9RT aced the thermal tests conducted on it and came out of it heat-free. The YouTuber has done a series of rigorous tests on the OnePlus 9RT pitting it against the OnePlus 9R. When it comes to heating issues, Snapdragon 870 almost has none. The video below showcased that the OnePlus 9RT is only a few degrees away from the OnePlus 9R after conducting a benchmark test. Therefore, the OnePlus 9RT yielded better results when compared to the OnePlus 9. Therefore, making it the successful replacement for both OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9R.

OnePlus 9RT: Release Date & Price

The model is already released in China and is set to launch in India on Jan 26 as an exclusive product on Amazon. The model is priced at 42,999 INR.
