Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Vs Dimensity 9300

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Dimensity 9300: CPU Performance

The CPU performance battleground intensifies as we compare the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300. The two formidable contenders share an identical core count of 8 and are built on a 4-nanometer process. The architecture emphasize efficiency and performance optimization. The architectural nuances, however, present a subtle yet significant distinction. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 showcases a configuration comprising 1x 3.3 GHz Cortex-X4, 3x 3.15 GHz Cortex-A720, 2x 2.96 GHz Cortex-A720, and 2x 2.26 GHz Cortex-A520 cores. On the other hand, the Dimensity 9300 is equipped with 1x 3.25 GHz Cortex-X4, 3x 2.85 GHz Cortex-X4, and 4x 2 GHz Cortex-A720 cores.

Despite the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 having a higher frequency for its primary core (3.3 GHz compared to 3.25 GHz), the Dimensity 9300 features a larger L3 cache of 18 MB, as opposed to the Snapdragon’s 12 MB. Moreover, the Dimensity 9300 takes the lead in floating-point computations, outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by a notable 27%.

This suggests that the Dimensity 9300 excels in tasks requiring intensive mathematical calculations. Due to this, it stood as a favorable choice for applications and workloads demanding superior floating-point performance. However, it’s crucial to consider that real-world performance can be influenced by various factors, including software optimization, thermal management, and overall system integration. In summary, the choice between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300 depends on the specific needs of users, as both processors offer unique strengths in the realm of CPU performance. However, Dimensity 9200 takes a tad bit lead without considering those various optimizations.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Dimensity 9300: GPU Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 includes the Adreno 750 GPU. It uses the Adreno 700 architecture and has a GPU frequency of 770 MHz. This GPU has two execution units and 1536 shading units, for a total of 3072 shaders. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a FLOPS (Floating Point Operations Per Second) score of 4730.8 Gigaflops and supports Vulkan version 1.3 and OpenCL version 2.0 for powerful graphics rendering and computing.

On the other hand, the Dimensity 9300 incorporates the Mali-G720 Immortalis MP12 GPU. It is based on the Valhall 5th gen architecture, with a higher GPU frequency of 1300 MHz. This GPU is notably more robust, boasting 12 execution units and 192 shading units, totaling 2304 shaders. With a FLOPS value of 5990.4 Gigaflops, the Dimensity 9300 surpasses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of raw graphical processing power. Both GPUs support Vulkan version 1.3 and OpenCL version 2.0, ensuring compatibility with modern graphics APIs for enhanced gaming and computational experiences.

Although, Dimensity 9300 on paper look more advantageous, Adreno 750 GPU comes with a proven efficiency. On other hand, it has 1536 Shading units and 3072 total shaders which makes it more robust. Its a tie for both.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Dimensity 9300: Battery

Efficiency and battery life are critical considerations in today’s mobile landscape. Surprisingly, both processors excel in this department, garnering identical scores of 91 and 92 in battery life efficiency. Despite the performance disparities, both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300 manage to strike a balance between power and energy consumption effectively. However, based upon my usage, Snapdragon gets my vote. I used a series of Snapdragon and MediaTek powered smartphones. Out of them, Snapdragon phones showcased low heating quotients than MediaTek.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Dimensity 9300: Benchmark Scores

When it comes to benchmarks, AnTuTu and GeekBench are the glod standards. The AnTuTu Benchmark, a comprehensive test evaluating CPU, GPU, RAM, and I/O performance, clearly highlights the disparity between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 achieves a total score of 2,106,106, while the Dimensity 9300 demonstrates a notable performance boost with a total score of 2,262,410, marking a 7% improvement. Analyzing the individual components contributing to these scores. The CPU performance of the Dimensity 9300 is particularly noteworthy, scoring 524,211 compared to 8 Gen 3’s 462,657. These numbers showcase a 13% advantage. In contrast, the GPU performance of the Dimensity 9300, with a score of 951,184, outpaces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s GPU score of 902,878 by 5%, reflecting its superior graphics processing capabilities. Additionally, the Dimensity 9300 exhibits improved memory performance and slightly lower UX (User Experience) score compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

CPU 462657 524211
GPU 902878 951184
Memory 387756 451571
UX 334649 330767
Total score 2106106 2262410

GeekBench

In terms of single-core performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300 are closely matched. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 obtains a single-core score of 2,213, but the Dimensity 9300 has a little advantage, scoring 2% higher at 2,249. This minor difference shows that both processors excel at handling particular activities and applications, with the Dimensity 9300 performing somewhat better in this regard.

The Dimensity 9300 maintains its edge in multi-core performance. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a multi-core score of 7,325, but the Dimensity 9300 exceeds it by 4%, with a score of 7,600. This suggests that the Dimensity 9300 is more adept at performing concurrent, resource-intensive operations, providing consumers with a smoother experience.

Verdict:

When the CPU, GPU, and benchmark scores are compared, Dimensity emerges as a more tempting option for users who value strong performance. The Dimensity 9300 has stronger GPU capabilities, higher benchmark scores for both single-core and multi-core performance. It also possess a huge advantage in floating-point computations. With a larger L3 cache and a modest boost in CPU speed, the Dimensity 9300 offers improved graphics processing. However, Snapdragon offers what you call a well balanced approach to everything. Although Media Tek’s dimensity 9300 has impressive performance numbers, some of which outperform Qualcomm 8 gen 3, it’s worth noting that Qualcomm is more established and reputable than Media Tek, and most software is more optimized for Qualcomm, so I also lean towards Qualcomm.
