Vivo T1 Review: If you take the smartphones market, budget segment smartphones have become the crown jewel of a brand. Even though the Flagships were always the talk of the town, brands can’t ignore the budget segment. They possess the power to yank high sales figures, even better than flagships. Therefore, almost every brand competes against each other to grab the title “Best Budget Smartphone”. Nowadays, every brand invents new ways to cut some slack and develops smartphones that are under budget. Vivo is one of those major brands and the company is well-known for its budget segment smartphones. The company has entered the Asiatic market by storm with the same principle.

Above all, the Chinese based brand is also well known for some of its ground-breaking innovations in smartphones. Vivo is the first brand to introduce the in-screen fingerprint reader in a smartphone. It is also the first one to introduce gimbal stabilization technology to a camera through its X-series smartphones.

The brand took a quite setback with poor marketing strategies, at least in my opinion. They started projecting the camera prowess of their phones and started neglecting the thing that made them famous. Providing flagship experience, being on a budget. If you see their latest releases, you can witness their tag lines concentrating only on cameras – The selfie expert, camera king, selfie delight. Their phones indeed bear awesome camera hardware. However, concentrating solely on it might be a bad idea, after all, people don’t buy phones just for the camera. However, with Vivo T1,  the brand might seal the deal. It’s the most balanced phone I saw in recent times.

Before revealing why I think Vivo T1 is the most balanced phone. Check out the specs it offers on the table.

vivo t1 review specsVivo T1 Processor: Powerful in its Segment

Vivo T1 is powered by the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. The 8-core chipset was announced recently on October 27, 2021, and is manufactured using a 6-nanometer process which makes it more powerful. It has 2 cores Kryo 660 Gold Cortex-A78 clocked at 2200 MHz and 6 cores Kryo 660 Silver (Cortex-A55) at 1700 MHz. It also supports 5G. This processor is in my opinion, the best entry-level processor right now.

The processor successfully replaced its predecessor, the Snapdragon 690, which is currently reigning over the entry-level smartphone segment. Coming to the graphics, this chipset is equipped with Adreno 619 GPU. With this processor, Qualcomm promises a 15-per cent improvement in CPU performance and up to 30 per cent faster graphics rendering compared to the 690. Vivo T1 also support the Virtual RAM Expansion feature that’ll allow you to add extra RAM on the go. With this feature enabled, you can enjoy up to 4 GB of internal memory, as extended RAM to seamlessly shuffle between multiple apps.

Overall, I think Vivo T1 has got a well-balanced entry-level chipset working under its good

Vivo t1 Review Vivo T1 Display: Refresh Rate Maxed Out

When it comes to this price range (Under 15-16,000), only a few brands are offering higher refresh rates clocked up to 120Hz. Vivo T1 is equipped with a 6.58 inch LCD that can churn out peak refresh rates of up to 120 Hz. In addition to that, the FHD+ in-cell display will let you see over a billion shades of vibrant colours with clear details. The display of Vivo T1 also offers a 240Hz touch sampling rate that will come in handy for mobile gaming enthusiasts who are looking for budget smartphones.

Overall, I think it’s a great display. However, since most of us are already used to AMOLED and Super AMOLED displays, LCD is the biggest disappointment of this phone.

I think, Vivo opted for LCD instead of LED to cut some slack in budget. Therefore, even though it is disappointing to see an LCD panel, I think the Vivo T1 display is subtle, and on point.

Vivo T1 Design: Stunningly Slim

Vivo smartphones are well-known for their design aesthetics and colour schemes. This phone also comes with the same out of the box. The phone features a 2.5D flat frame on an 8.25 mm thin body. It offers an elegant look, thus keeping you out of the crowd. Also, it features a lightweight design to make it convenient and comfortable for you to carry around. The phone weighs around just 187 grams, which in my opinion is one of the lightweight phones released in recent times.

Overall, I think this phone offers great relief for the people who idolize carrying lightweight smartphones in their pockets.

Vivo T1 Camera: Decent & Right on Point

On the rear panel, Vivo T1 is equipped with a triple camera system. The main sensor is a 50 MP shooter, with f/1.8 aperture, the other two sensors are 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro) shooter and a 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth). On the back panel, Vivo T1 is equipped with a 16 Megapixel shooter with f/2.5 aperture. All these cameras support 1080p@30fps recording. However, the main sensor has the added ability to capture 1080p video clicking at 60fps along with 4K video recording clocking up to 60fps.

When it comes to cameras, we all know Vivo never disappoints. The brand even boasts around the fact that it offers stunningly good cameras with good visual prowess. You can also add this phone to the same list as well.

Ironically, I find the front camera in Vivo T1 more noteworthy than the rear camera. The images taken from the selfies camera are decent and posse a good contrast ratio. On the other hand, the visual from rear cameras look more saturated and sometimes dull as well. However, when you gave enough light to it, the rear cameras are also working better. In other words, the front cam was more subtle and good than the back one. The rear cameras fail when the light fails.

Vivo T1 Battery: It’s Huge & Liberating

Vivo T1 comes with a huge battery on board. It has got a 5000 mAh battery that can run throughout the day without worrying about the battery running out. Having a huge battery gave Vivo the scope to add a reverse charging feature. Vivo T1 supports reverse charging using an OTG cable so that you can use your phone as a power bank.

In addition to that, this mobile phone is equipped with an 18 W Fast charging cable that allows you to power up your battery as soon as you run out of juice. It can charge up the device up to 50 per cent under 40 minutes from 0 per cent.

Overall, the battery was good and much needed. However, 18 W Fast charging is a slight disappointment. Vivo might’ve gone with more, in my opinion.

Vivo T1 Review: Final Words

This phone is a great choice for people who budget-friendly devices more. It has got good design aesthetics, impressive hardware, a subtle camera, a huge battery, and a great price tag. Vivo is offering it online at 15,000 Rupees (If you got an HDFC card) on Flipkart. At this price tag, you can find some of the competitive budget-friendly devices on the market. For instance, Redmi Note 11T, Note 11 Series, Realme 9i, and Narzo 3. However, none of these smartphones are offering a well-rounded spec sheet like Vivo T1.

Except for some setbacks such as not having an LED display, No ultra-wide lens, a Plastic frame and No stereo speakers, everything about this phone is right on point. Even the camera is quite decent for its price tag.

Final Words
If you are looking for a budget smartphone and a daily driver, then this phone will not disappoint you. Vivo T1 has got everything checked and you can rely on it. However, if you are camera fanatic, then steer clear from this phone. For the people who are into light weight smartphones, this phone is a delight for you.
