POCO X6 Pro, one of the new releases from the X-series was launched today and I got the chance to try it. I previously used POCO F5 and X6 Pro. Being a mid-ranger, this smartphone has successfully managed to exceed my expectations. I for one, took it as a flagship grade smartphone instead of mid range. Let’s do some quick unboxing to see what’s so good about it.
POCO X6 Pro: Unboxing & First Impressions
As I eagerly opened the box of the POCO X-Pro, the first thing that caught my attention was its sturdy design adorned with the signature POCO black and yellow combination. The box gave me a sense of anticipation, reminiscent of the excitement I felt during the unboxing of the previous F5 model. It was clear that POCO had maintained its commitment to delivering a premium unboxing experience.
The standout feature, however, was the new silicon case snugged inside the box. POCO has listened to user feedback, and this change deserves special praise. The shift from the traditional transparent TPU case to the new silicone variant brings both style and durability. It’s not just a protective accessory; it’s a statement. As someone who has experienced the unfortunate yellowing of TPU cases over time, the introduction of the silicone case is a thoughtful touch that adds an extra layer of satisfaction to the unboxing experience.

POCO X6 Pro Review: Design
The POCO X6 Pro stands out in the smartphone market with its captivating design. Its sleek form factor, measuring at 160.5 x 74.3 x 8.3 mm and weighing approximately 190g, presents a comfortable and visually appealing device. It is available in three striking colors grey, yellow and black. I got the the black variant we reviewed emanates a premium aura with its glossy, mirror-like finish. The build quality is amazing, with Gorilla Glass 5 for the front and a choice between plastic or eco-leather silicone polymer for the back, with the latter providing a distinctive leather-like feel in the yellow variant.
One of the device’s distinctive features is its rear camera housing, showcasing three cameras, a flash, and the iconic POCO badge. This not only serves a functional purpose but also adds a unique flair to the smartphone’s identity. The POCO X6 Pro carries an IP54 rating, offering dust and water protection. While it falls slightly short of the submersion-grade IP67 or IP68 protection found in some competitors, it remains resilient against heavy splashes from all directions, ensuring durability even in challenging weather conditions.
The front of the device boasts a captivating 6.67-inch OLED display with minimal bezels, delivering an immersive visual experience. The thin and uniform bezels contribute to the device’s premium feel, and the inclusion of an optical fingerprint scanner underneath the display enhances security without compromising aesthetics. Despite the absence of IP67 or IP68 protection, the POCO X6 Pro shines with its remarkable design elements, tiny bezels, distinctive camera housing, and a glossy finish, making it an enticing choice for users seeking a stylish and functional smartphone.

The Poco X6 Pro is powered by the powerful Dimensity 8300-Ultra, a Mediatek chip designed using a cutting-edge 4nm process. The processor makes its debut in the X6 Pro. This SoC has an octa-core CPU design, with four high-performance Cortex-A715 cores (1×3.35GHz + 3x 3.20GHz) and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 cores (4×2.2GHz). The device’s graphics processor is the Mali-G615 MC6 GPU.
It is one of the best performance oriented smartphone I have seen in this segment. Even the Benchmark scores for the X6 Pro showcase its impressive performance. According to Geekbench, it has scored over 4696 in multi-core and 1498 in single-core. As for the Antutu, it records a substantial 1396547. The device offers two memory configurations ( 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB). The model I reviewed is equipped with 12GB RAM and ample 512GB internal storage. The storage is UFS 4.0 and the LPDDR5 RAM.
I’ve tested PUBG, FC24 and Genshin impact on this smartphone. The phone has aced everything I thrown at it. We all know POCO smartphones are solid when it comes to performance segment. This smartphone has proved the same point again.

The POCO X6 Pro brings a captivating visual experience with its impressive 6.67-inch display. The display of this phone offers more than what one might typically expect. Boasting a resolution of 1220×2712 pixels and a 20:9 ratio (~446 ppi density), the display goes beyond standard 1080p, providing sharp and vibrant visuals. What sets it apart is the Dolby Vision support, a feature that enhances the overall viewing experience. With a remarkable peak brightness of 1,800 nits (1,200 nits in regular situations), the display excels in both brightness and clarity. The 120Hz refresh rate, coupled with a 2160Hz touch sampling rate, ensures smooth and responsive interactions, contributing to an enhanced user experience.
The device’s display is not just about resolution and brightness; it also supports various HDR formats, including Dolby Vision. This means users can enjoy high-quality HDR content from platforms like Netflix and YouTube, adding an extra layer of visual richness to their multimedia experience.
Audio
In the audio department, the POCO X6 Pro features a conventional two-speaker setup. The phone comes with a one bottom-firing unit and another serving as an earpiece that directs sound upwards. This configuration allows for a stereo-like audio experience, adapting channels based on the phone’s orientation. The device received a ‘Very Good’ rating for loudness in tests conducted by GSM Arena, achieving a gold standard rating of -24.3 LUFS. The phone is delivering not just exceptional visuals but also a robust audio experience. In summary, the POCO X6 Pro impresses with its high-resolution AMOLED display, Dolby Vision support, and excellent audio quality, making it a compelling choice for users who prioritize an immersive multimedia experience in their smartphones.

The POCO X6 Pro offers a versatile camera setup that covers various shooting scenarios. It possess three cameras on back with 64 MP, f/1.7, 25mm (wide),
8 MP, f/2.2, 120˚ (ultrawide) and 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). On the front, it has 16 MP, f/2.4, (wide) angle lens. The main camera, featuring a 64MP sensor with optical image stabilization, captures detailed and stabilized shots in daylight conditions. While the rendition of textures may not be the most pleasing, the device excels in producing images with good saturation and acceptable dynamic range. The 2x zoom level delivers pleasant surprises with a notable amount of fine detail, even if the results may not look entirely natural.
The ultrawide 8MP camera provides a decent performance, although dynamic range and color reproduction may fall short compared to the main camera. In low-light conditions, the X6 Pro continues to impress, producing well-exposed images with good shadow development and controlled noise levels. The 8MP ultrawide camera on the POCO X6 Pro provides users with a wider perspective. It is capable of capturing expansive scenes and group shots with its 120˚ field of view. While it may not match the main camera in terms of resolution, the ultrawide lens still contributes to the device’s overall versatility.
The portrait mode effectively utilizes the main camera’s field of view, showcasing reliable subject detection and a convincing background blur. Selfies from the 16MP front camera exhibit decent detail, with the device maintaining a likable skin tone presentation. However, white balance inconsistencies are noticeable in both indoor and outdoor settings. Dynamic range in selfie mode proves to be a strong suit for the X6 Pro.
In summary, the POCO X6 Pro delivers a good camera performance, excelling in daylight and low-light scenarios. While there are minor inconsistencies in color reproduction and white balance, the device’s versatile camera setup caters to a range of photography needs, making it a suitable choice for users seeking a well-rounded camera experience in their smartphone.
Video Performance:
The main camera on the Poco X6 Pro can record in up to 4K30 and 4K24 resolutions, while it can also record in 1080p60 for users who prefer frame rate to resolution. But the ultrawide camera can only record in 1080p30. The 4K footage from the primary camera has good overall quality. Although auto white balance is still an issue, these flaws are made up for by attractive saturation and well-appeared artificial detail. Even from close range, the 2x zoom level preserves the uniformity of the 1x footage, if slightly less sharply.
The video performance of the ultrawide camera is not as good in terms of dynamic range and saturation, but it does display better white balance. Although stabilization is constantly active, there are occasional obvious focus hunting observed in the capture footage. The Poco X6 Pro’s primary camera shines in low light, producing films with decent clarity, a fair dynamic range, and brilliant color saturation despite these oddities. But the low-light footage from the ultrawide camera show the anticipated noise and softness, which puts them in line with industry standards for this kind of situation. All things considered, the Poco X6 Pro’s video recording features give users an adaptable toolkit for capturing memories, especially well under varied lighting circumstances.

POCO X6 Pro Review: Battery and Charging
The Poco X6 Pro sticks to the industry standard for battery life with its 5,000mAh capacity. The phone impresses with a commendable power delivery even though it doesn’t break any records. The gadget has performed admirably and steadily in a variety of duties. Its 67W quick charging feature, which boasts exceptional rates, adds even more attraction. The phone reached the same charging and discharging speeds as my previous phone, the POCO F5.
It took a mere 43 minutes to reach full charge. The phone is a strong option for consumers who value effective and speedy recharging features in a cost-effective smartphone. While lacking wireless charging, the device compensates with rapid wired charging, making it a compelling choice for users. The model has gained an Active Use Score of 11:46h in GSM Arena test. It means it can stay put for 1 full day with moderate usage.

The Poco X6 Pro introduces users to Xiaomi’s revolutionary HyperOS. It differs from the usual MIUI seen on its predecessor, the Poco F5. Notably, the phone includes HyperOS right out of the box. The remaining Poco models continue to run MIUI, although a HyperOS update is expected in the future. HyperOS introduces a revamped Control Center, which removes text labels from icons, improving the visual while requiring users to become acquainted with the icons’ functionality.
Building on MIUI’s renowned customizability, HyperOS offers additional personalization options for the lock screen. It features various designs with unique clock styles and corresponding always-on display options. One notable change is the introduction of a new system-wide font, deviating from the familiar MiSans to reflect the HyperOS branding. While the transition to HyperOS may require some adjustment for users accustomed to MIUI, it brings a fresh visual experience and enhanced personalization features to the Poco X6 Pro, contributing to a more modern and customizable user interface.
